Can Drive Produces More Than 2,000 Cans for Local Food Pantry

December 12, 2017

For the ninth straight year, a food drive at Tompkins Cortland Community College has produced a great resulted for the Dryden Kitchen Cupboard. This year more than 2,000 cans of food and $500 in cash were donated to the local food pantry, helping to restock the shelves after Thanksgiving and in preparation for the upcoming holidays.

First held in 2009, the can drive is organized by the College’s student activities office and has grown through the years to include a CANstruction event where donated cans are used to build sculptures on campus. Donations came in from students and staff, as well as community members at events like the Harlem Wizards basketball game, and this year a “megabuild” produced a replica of the College’s Panther logo.
