TC3 Study Skills Resources

Individual Sessions

Individual appointments are available with Rick Grossman. These one-hour sessions provide you with the opportunity to discuss your learning styles, current strategies, and specific areas of interest. You and the Specialist will work together to develop strategies to meet your current academic challenges. Appointments can be made at the Center reception desk (Rooms 280-286) or by calling 607.844.8222, Ext. 4415.

Study Skills Courses

Two courses, RDNG 116 and RDNG 113, are available to assist you in the development of effective study skills. RDNG 116 (College Reading and Study Skills) is a three-credit course offered every semester at a variety of times and locations. RDNG 113 (College Study Skills) is a one-credit course offered in both traditional and online formats. Contact Rick Grossman for more information (607.844.8222, Ext. 4247 or E-mail Rick).

Study Skills Video Workshop

"Making A's In College", a two-hour video workshop is available at Media Services (Room 244). The video covers a wide range of reading, studying, and test-taking strategies and includes a study skills handbook and workbook. The index can be used to locate areas of particular interest. The video can be viewed on campus or borrowed for up to three days.

Study Skills Textbooks

Several popular study skills textbooks are on reserve in the library. Ask at the main desk for books on reserve for "Grossman - RDNG 113/116." These texts cover many key study skills topics.

Study Skills Tips and Techniques Sheets

Tips and techniques sheets are available on a variety of specific study skills topics including memory improvement, lecture note taking, textbook reading and marking, preparing for exams, exam taking, and time management. These sheets are available in the Baker Center for Learning and on the web.
