Reed and Litzenberger Named All-Region

May 22, 2015

2015 All-Region

For the second year in a row, Tompkins Cortland Community College has placed multiple players on the NJCAA Region III all-region lacrosse team. Freshman defender Brooks Reed (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca) and freshman attack Brian Litzenberger (Cortland H.S./Cortland) were recognized for being among the best in the region. Both players were named to the second team. Onondaga Community College, the region and national champions, accounted for nine of the 13 first-team selections plus a second-team selection. Genesee Community College had six selections total (four first-team and two second-team), and SUNY Delhi and Herkimer College were next with three each, all second-team. Finger Lakes Community College was the only school represented on the team, with two players on the second team. Voting was done by the coaches from the 12 Region III teams.

Reed, who was also honored with a Mid-State Athletic Conference all-conference selection, started all 14 games as a defender. He was key contributor to a defense that put up the best numbers in the history of the program: holding nine of 14 opponents to single-digit goals, and nearly recording a shutout three times. On average, the Panthers allowed 8.88 goals per game, the best in team history. Reed also scored a goal in the team’s 5-4 win at Mohawk Valley Community College.

Litzenberger was one of the top scorers in region, putting in 23 goals while handing out 21 assists in 14 games. He scored multiple goals in seven games and had multiple assists in seven games, with four of those times coming in the same game. His season-high of eight points on five goals and three assists in the win over County College of Morris was one of the ten best single-game efforts in TC3’s history.

This is the second year in a row, but just the second time overall that TC3 has had multiple all-region selections since lacrosse was reinstated as a varsity sport in 2008. The two selections this year brings TC3’s total all-region selections to six.

Two Named All-MSAC

2015 All-MSAC

Tompkins Cortland Community College sophomore Eh Tha Dah (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca) and freshman Brooks Reed (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca) have been named to the Mid-State Athletic Conference men’s lacrosse all-conference team. A total of twenty players are chosen to the team, with voting done by the coaches in the conference. This marks the fourth straight year TC3 has been represented on the all-conference team, and the third time in that span the Panthers have had multiple honorees.

Dah is the first two-time all-MSAC selection in TC3 lacrosse history. The goalie posted an 8.84 goals against average, the best in the College’s history. He had two games this year where he allowed just one goal, the best single-game performance ever by a TC3 goalie.

Reed started all 14 games as a defender. He was a vital part of the best defensive unit ever to wear TC3 uniforms. As a team, the Panthers limited nine of 14 opponents to fewer than ten goals in their game, including four teams they kept under five goals. Statistically, TC3 had the second best defense in the MSAC, behind only champion Onondaga. As a team, the Panthers allowed 8.88 goals per game, with Reed playing nearly every minute in the defensive end.

Strong Showing in Defeat for Panthers

Thursday, April 17, 2014

TC3 lacrosse

After falling behind big early, the Tompkins Cortland Community College lacrosse team showed tremendous grit and determination, nearly rallying all the way back before falling 15-12 to nationally-ranked SUNY Delhi Thursday. The loss leaves TC3 with a record of 4-9 overall and 1-4 in Region III East Division play. Delhi, ranked #7 in the nation, is 11-2 overall and 5-1 in the East Division.

To say the Panthers started slowly would be a huge understatement. The visiting Broncos scored early and often, racing to a 5-0 lead that grew to 9-1 before settling at 11-4 after the first quarter. The Panthers outscored the Broncos in both the second and third quarters, bringing the score to 13-10 heading into the final 15 minutes. In the fourth, the Panthers continued the pressure, but couldn’t cut into the lead anymore. The two teams traded goals twice over the final four minutes to make the final 15-12.

After the opening quarter, the TC3 defense tightened and the entire team stepped up. Goalie Eh Tha Dah (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca) finished with 18 saves and several standout plays. Orazio Ciaschi (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca) led the offense with four goals and two assists. Austin Recor (Homer H.S./Homer) was right behind him with four goals and one assist, and Max Bosworth (Keene H.S./Keene, N.H.) and Nick Velazquez (Middletown H.S./Middletown) each had two goals. Josh Maxson (Homer H.S./Homer) and Jorge Berenguer (Sleepy Hollow H.S./Sleepy Hollow) each had an assist.

The Panthers end the regular season Saturday at Herkimer County Community College.
