Panthers Snap Skid with Road Win

The Tompkins Cortland Community College lacrosse team snapped its skid with an 11-6 win at Hudson Valley Community College Wednesday. The Panthers, losers of three straight entering the game, improve to 4-4 overall and 3-2 in Region III. Hudson Valley falls to 1-3 overall and in Region III.

Brian Litzenberger (Cortland H.S./Cortland) led the scoring as TC3 overcame a 2-1 deficit after the first quarter to lead 7-2 at the half on the way to the win. Litzenberger finished with five goals and an assist, while Carter Mardiney (Rondout Valley H.S./Rosendale) had four goals. Matt Geisler (Pine Bush H.S./Pine Bush) had a goal and an assist and Nick Velazquez (Middletown H.S./Middletown) had two assists. Justin Ebert (Pine Bush H.S./Pine Bush) had a goal, and Wes Swanson (Dryden H.S./Dryden) and Jacob Czapranski (Dryden H.S./Dryden) each had an assist. Eh Tha Dah (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca) had 13 saves in goal to earn the win.

TC3 hosts Onondaga Community College Saturday at noon.

Zach McMullin

Zach McMullen

Coach McMullin is in his fourth season with the Panthers, and his second as head coach. He has been involved in all aspects of the program and has been largely responsible for the growth of the program.

Coach McMullin brings valuable experience as both a player and coach, having been a standout player both in high school and at TC3. During his time in a Panthers uniform he showed a tremendous ability to put the ball in the net, scoring 21 goals in just seven games. As a coach, he exudes the same energy he brought to the field as a player, helping the team and each player reach their potential on and off the field.

Panthers Earn First Win by Beating Broome 11-6

The Tompkins Cortland Community College lacrosse team picked up its first win of the season Saturday with an 11-6 victory against SUNY Broome. The win improves TC3 to 1-2 on the year. It was the first game of the season for Broome.

For the third straight game, the Panthers got off to a slow start. Broome led 5-4 after the first quarter, but TC3 held the home team scoreless the next two quarters while scoring twice in the second and three more time in the third to lead 9-5 heading into the final quarter. The fourth quarter saw TC3 score twice while the home team added a single goal, making the final 11-6.

Josh Maxson (Homer H.S./Homer) led the scoring with a goal and three assists. Max Bosworth (Keene H.S./Keene, N.H.) and Nick Velazquez (Middletown H.S./Middletown) each had three goals, and Orazio Ciaschi (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca) had two. Wes Swanson (Dryden H.S./Dryden) and Austin Recor (Homer H.S./Homer) each had a goal and an assist. Goalie Eh Tha Dah (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca) had 21 saves for his first win.

TC3 is scheduled to play at County College of Morris (N.J.) Friday before a home game Saturday against Northampton Community College (Penn.).
