Coaches–Women's Golf

Mick McDaniel

Head Coach

Mick McDanielCoach McDaniel returns to the course for the 2014-15 year, bringing along some strong credentials. He previously coached TC3 for more than a decade, putting together one of the most impressive runs of success of any TC3 team in any sport. During a four year span, TC3 won two Region III titles, never finished worse than third in the Region and had two top-seven finishes at nationals. He coached an individual national champion, a two-time All-American, three MSAC individual champions, and dozens of all-region and all-MSAC performers. Coach McDaniel has coached men and women golfers, including TC3's first woman golfer to qualify for the national tournament, by working with each golfer on all facets of the game. His knowledge, experience, and coaching style translates to a positive experience for all his student athletes.

Panthers Fourth at Own Invite

The TC3 golf team finished fourth in the TC3 Panther Invitational at Elm Tree Golf Course in Cortland Sunday. Monroe Community College led the 12-team field with a 286, just six over par as a team. TC3 finished at 307, seven strokes behind runner up Mohawk Valley.
 
Chris Forehand (Victory Christian Academy/Cortland) was TC3's top scorer, finishing at 74. Craig Smith (Remsen H.S./Remsen) and Nathan Gould (Edward Little H.S./Auburn, Maine) followed, each with a 76. Troy Whittemore (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca) and Andrew Farrell (East Syracuse-Minoa H.S./East Syracuse) rounded out the team scoring with a pair of 81s.
 
Lauren Tallman (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca) took second out four in the female division with an 89. Nicole Ramos (Dryden H.S./Freeville) was third at 97.
 
The men host the NJCAA Region III championship tournament May 11 and 12 at Cornell University's Robert Trent Jones Golf Course.

The TC3 golf team finished seventh at the 11-team Corning Red Baron Invitational Saturday. Monroe dominated the event with a 303, placing four individuals within the top five individual scorers. Jefferson was second at 325. TC3 finished with a 338.
 
Craig Smith (Remsen H.S./Remsen) led TC3 with a 79. Troy Whittemore (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca) was next with an 80. Nathan Gould (Edward Little H.S./Auburn, Maine) and Nathan Forehand (Victory Christian Academy/Cortland) rounded out the team scoring with an 85 and a 94.
 
On the women's side, Lauren Tallman (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca) was second among four golfers, firing a 99. Nicole Ramos (Dryden H.S./Freeville) was third at 106.


Panthers Second at Monroe

The TC3 golf team had a strong showing at the Monroe Invitational Monday, placing second in the eight-team field. The host school, ranked #2 in the nation, won the event with a 300. TC3 followed at 326, five strokes ahead of Jefferson Community College.
 
Craig Smith (Remsen H.S./Remsen) had the fourth-best individual round, carding a 77. Chris Forehand (Victory Christian Academy/Cortland) followed at 81 and Troy Whittemore (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca) added an 82. Andrew Farrell (East Syracuse-Minoa H.S./East Syracuse) rounded out the team score with an 86. Nathan Gould (Edward Little H.S./Auburn, Maine) finished the round at 92.
 
On the women's side, Lauren Tallman (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca) took home medalist honors with a 94, two strokes ahead of the runner up. Nicole Ramos (Dryden H.S./Freeville) was third at 106.

The TC3 golf team took third at the Jefferson Invitational Sunday, firing a 325 to finish 18 strokes behind the host school. Corning was second at 313. Broome and Cayuga took fourth and fifth with scores of 330 and 333, respectively.
 
Craig Smith (Remsen H.S./Remsen) and Nathan Gould (Edward Little H.S./Auburn, Maine) each carded a 79 to tie for seventh. Troy Whittemore (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca) came in at 83 followed by Andrew Farrell (East Syracuse-Minoa H.S./East Syracuse) at 84. Mike Kasel (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca) and Chris Forehand (Victory Christian Academy/Cortland) each came in at 90.
 
Lauren Tallman (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca) won the female division with a 95. Nicole Ramos (Dryden H.S./Freeville) was second among the three women, coming in at 101.

Playing at the Cayuga Spartan Invitational at Highland Park Golf Course Friday, the TC3 golf fired a team score of 325 to tie for fourth in the eight-team field. Monroe Community College took top honors with a 300, 15 strokes ahead of second-place Cayuga Community College.
 
Troy Whittemore (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca) led TC3 with a 77, good for fifth overall. Andrew Farrell (East Syracuse-Minoa H.S./East Syracuse) followed with an 81 to go with Craig Smith (Remsen H.S./Remsen) at 83 and Nathan Gould (Edward Little H.S./Auburn, Maine) at 84. Mike Kasel (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca) carded an 85, Chris Forehand (Victory Christian Academy/Cortland) came in at 93, and Nathan Forehand (Victory Christian Academy/Cortland) ended at 94.

Playing at the Broome Invitational at Endwell Greens Saturday, the TC3 golf fired a team score of 341 to take second place in the ten-team field. Monroe Community College took top honors, scoring 320. Broome Community College and Jefferson Community College tied for third with 348.
 
Craig Smith (Remsen H.S./Remsen) was TC3's top scorer, finishing ninth overall with an 84. Chris Forehand (Victory Christian Academy/Cortland) and Troy Whittemore (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca) each carded an 85, and Andrew Farrell (East Syracuse-Minoa H.S./East Syracuse) added an 87. Nathan Gould (Edward Little H.S./Auburn, Maine) came in with a 92.
 
Among the three women's golfers, Lauren Tallman (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca) took top honors with a 107. Nicole Ramos (Dryden H.S./Freeville) was second at 110. Corning's Hope Fenton finished at 131.
 
TC3 competes at the Jamestown-Cattaraugus Invitational Friday.


Panthers Open 2009 Campaign

The two-time defending Region III champion TC3 golf team opened its 2009 campaign Friday at the Mohawk Valley Invitational. Playing with six freshmen, the Panthers finished fourth out of seven teams, 25 strokes behind Monroe Community College. Monroe won the event with a team score of 303, followed by Jefferson Community College at 315, and Mohawk Valley Community College at 317. TC3 was fourth with a 328, ahead of Cayuga Community College, Niagara County Community College, and Adirondack Community College.
 
Craig Smith (Remsen H.S./Remsen) was TC3's top scorer, finishing tied for sixth overall with a 77 on the par-71 course. Chris Forehand (Victory Christian Academy/Cortland) came in at 81, Andrew Farrell (East Syracuse-Minoa H.S./East Syracuse) at 84, and Nathan Gould (Edward Little H.S./Auburn, Maine) 86. Troy Whittemore (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca) carded a 90 and Nathan Forehand (Victory Christian Academy/Cortland) made it around the course with a 101.
 
Lauren Tallman (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca) and Nicole Ramos (Dryden H.S./Freeville) were the only female golfers at the invitational. Tallman fired a 97 while Ramos finished at 106.
 
TC3 competes at the Broome Invitational Saturday.
