TC3 Represented by Two on All-MSAC Team

June 5, 2014

Two Tompkins Cortland Community College softball players have been named to the Mid-State Athletic Conference all-conference softball team. Sophomore Angela Everhart (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca) and freshman Kailyn Andrews (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca) were among the 16 selected to the team. Voting was done by the coaches from the seven conference teams.

Everhart was one of TC3’s top offensive threats all season, leading the team with 25 RBI while batting .412, third best on the squad. She hit three home runs, tied for second most on the team, and had a slugging percentage of .562.

Andrews had TC3’s best on-base percentage at .562 and the second-best batting average at .475. She hit ten doubles and had a slugging percentage of .639, both the second best on the team.

It’s the eighth straight year TC3 has placed at least two players on the all-conference team.

Panthers Win Pair in Top Ten Matchup
Game 1 Box
Game 2 Box

Saturday, April 14, 2012

In a matchup of two teams ranked in the top ten in the nation, the Tompkins Cortland Community College softball team earned a doubleheader sweep at Monroe Community College, 5-1 and 8-1. TC3, ranked #5 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll, is now 16-2 overall and 6-0 in Region III play. Monroe, ranked #8, is now 15-13 overall and 6-2 in region.

TC3 pitcher Emilie Rogers (Elmira Free Academy/Elmira) was one of the stars of the day. She pitched both games, allowing just one earned run and five hits over 14 innings while striking out 15.

The Panthers led from the start of both games. Leadoff hitter Tayler Fravel (Sandy Creek H.S./Sandy Creek) opened the doubleheader with a double on the first pitch, setting the tone for the day. The Panthers scored two runs in the first inning of each game and never looked back. In the opener the Panthers led 3-0 before Monroe scored a run in the bottom of the second, and the Panthers got the run back in the top of the third and then added another in the fifth. In the nightcap, TC3 led 8-0 before Monroe plated a run in the bottom of the seventh.

Fravel finished the day 5-for-9, with a double and two stolen bases. Kristan Baker (Dallas H.S./Dallas, Penn.) also went 5-for-9, ripping three doubles and riving in four runs. Mackenzie Sherlock (Paul V. Moore H.S./Central Square) was 4-for-7 with a double, Samijo Scheer (Corning East H.S./Corning) went 3-for-5 with a triple, and Chelsea Houtenbrink (Waterloo H.S./Waterloo) went 2-for-6 with two RBI.

TC3 has its home opener Sunday at 1 p.m. against Mohawk Valley Community College Saturday.
