Region III Championships

Sunday, October 28: Women's Final

Game Notes

Broome is the NJCAA Region III champion after scoring a 2-0 win in the final. Emily Dixon scored twice for the Hornets, with assists from Erika Puffer and Aline Stabler. Broome goalkeeper Alicia Sagendorf was named the tournament MVP.

Game Notes

Herkimer is the NJCAA Region III champion after beating Cobleskill in the final, 1-0. Lee Martins scored the lone goal, with an assist from Sam Kennedy. Herkimer's Pete Givas was named the tournament MVP.

Game Notes

Broome advances to the Region III championship game with Saturday's 1-0 win over Mohawk Valley. The Hornets scored the lone goal of the game with 14:11 left in the second half. After a scramble in the box, MacKenzie Hartman put a ball past the defense that Carly Smith punched in for the game-winner. Alicia Sagendorf recorded four saves for the shutout.

Game Notes

Herkimer advances to face Broome in the final at noon on Sunday. The Generals scored the game's first goal in the sixth minute of play when Alicia Carcone fed Danielle Filbeck for the score. After Hudson Valley failed to take advantage of several scoring chances early in the second half - including hitting the crossbar on a shot - Dana Gentile scored for Herkimer on a counter attack to make it 2-0. Gentile added a goal in the 62nd minute to make it 3-0.

Cobleskill Advances on PKs

Game Notes

Cobleskill advances to the final on penalty kicks. The game was tied at 1-1 on a Mohawk Valley goal by David Havens (assist by Ismail Konate) in the 71st minute and a Cobleskill goal by Lucas Heffron with just 3:13 left in regulation. After two scoreless overtimes, the game went to penalty kicks, which Cobleskill won 3-2.

Game Notes

Herkimer advances with a 7-1 win over TC3. Herkimer scored the first goal in the 24th minute. After a shot on goal, Harry Appiah poked in a ball for the first score of the game. The Panthers answered in the 33rd minute. From about 40 yards out, Emerson Caiza played a beautiful ball that went off a Herkimer player's head into the goal for the equalizer. In the second half, Herkimer wore down the Panthers, scoring four goals over the final 14 minutes to roll to the win.
