The TC3 Sports Medicine department provides care for all TC3 student-athletes. Before participating on a varsity team, each prospective student-athlete must pass a physical exam conducted by the TC3 team physicians. Only physicals conducted by the team physicians will be accepted before a student can join practice. Physicals will be offered on campus prior to the start of practices. The department also staffs the athletic training room, and provides preventative care, management of injuries, and rehabilitative services. The goal of the department is to keep all student-athletes healthy, or, if injured, return them to proper playing condition as soon as possible.
Amy Voorhees, ATC, is the head athletic trainer, a position she has held for more than a decade. She oversees the athletic training room and is responsible for the medical care and treatment for all TC3 student-athletes. Amy was educated at Cortland State and Ithaca College and did an extensive athletic training internship at Cornell University. While at Cornell she worked with several teams, including the football team, and was fortunate to learn from several athletic trainers who enjoy national respect in the field.
Dr. Andrew Getzin, Dr. Jake Veigel, and Dr. Amy MacQueen of Cayuga Medical Center Sports Medicine and Athletic Performance are the TC3 team physicians.
