2002 Highlights

TC3 at Elmira College JV

Elmira—At Elmira, TC3 dominated play the whole night. Game one saw Tiffany Horton (Athens/Athens, PA) throw another complete game, tossing a 2-hit shutout. Leading 5-0 after four innings, TC3 put up four runs in the top of the fifth to end the game early. In her five innings on the hill, Horton registered eight strikeouts, improving her K's per inning average to 1.23. Rochelle Foster (Dryden/Dryden, NY) had a solid game at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a run scored, while Kim Zirbel (Groton/Groton, NY) was 2-for-2 with 2 RBI's, 2 runs scored, and 3 stolen bases.
 
Game two saw the Panthers pound out a TC3 single game record 24 hits - giving the team a single season record 188 hits already this year. Nine out of the ten players who came to bat in the mercy-rule shortened game hit safely with the Sage twins leading the way. Jamie Sage (Groton/Groton, NY) went 5-for-5 with a double and 2 RBI's while Kira Sage (Groton/Groton, NY) was 4-for-4 with a double and three runs scored. Horton, Zirbel, Laura Thomas (South Seneca/Interlaken, NY), and Brandy Howland (Newark Valley/Newark Valley, NY) each collected three hits, with Thomas leading the team with three RBI's. The 18 run output is the most this season and is tied for third best single game total in TC3 history.
