Panthers Drop Non-Conference Game
Dryden—The TC3 women's basketball team dropped a non-conference game Sunday, losing to Hudson Valley Community College by a final of 71-60. The Panthers are now 6-12 overall. Hudson Valley improves to 8-11.
The game opened with visiting Vikings moving to a 12-6 lead after the first five minutes. TC3's Beth Schonfeld (Southern Cayuga H.S./King Ferry) capped a 7-0 run for the Panthers with a layup to give the home team the lead at 13-12 with 11:31 left in the first half. The lead changed hands seven times over the next four minutes before Hudson Valley used a 10-1 run to take control. The bulge stood at seven points at the break, 35-28.
The second half opened with TC3's Jenn Iler (Owego Free Academy/Apalachin) hitting a three-pointer and Tasha Chamberlain (Elmira Free Academy/Elmira) connecting on a layup to pull the Panthers within two. The Vikings answered with an eight-point run en route to pulling away for the win.
Iler led TC3 with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 steals. Chamberlain added 14 points and Alyssa Drake (Moravia H.S./Locke) grabbed 11 boards.
Jenna Smith and Erika Russo paced Hudson Valley with 21 and 20 points, respectively.
TC3 returns to Mid-State Athletic Conference play Saturday with a home game against Onondaga Community College at 1 p.m.
