Boxscore

Dryden—The TC3 women’s basketball team opened the college's new gymnasium in fine fashion Thursday, posting a come-from-behind 53-43 win over Jamestown Community College-Cattaraugus. The win snapped a 20-game home losing streak for TC3, dating back to 2005. The game was the season opener for both teams.

The game opened with TC3 taking an early 7-0 lead. Diana Leifsson (Half Hollow Hills High School East/Melville) scored the first points in the gym, draining a three-pointer 59 seconds into the game. The visitors responded with an 11-0 run to take the lead. The Jaguars stayed in the lead the rest of the half, pushing the bulge to 24-16 at the break.

The second half opened with another TC3 run. Leifsson capped the 10-0 run with another three-pointer, giving the Panthers a 26-24 lead with 17:22 left. The teams traded the lead until Jamestown-Cattaraugus moved out to 41-35 lead with 6:01 to play.

The Panthers started the final comeback with layup by Tasha Chamberlain (Elmira Free Academy/Elmira) and a three-point play by Melissa McArdle (Naples H.S./Naples). A layup by Meghan Taylor (Delaware Academy/Delhi) with 3:00 to play gave TC3 the lead for good at 42-41. The Panthers went 6-6 from the free throw line the rest of the way to seal the victory.

Jenn Iler (Owego Free Academy/Apalachin) led TC3 with 15 points. Taylor pulled down 18 rebounds while Alyssa Drake (Moravia H.S./Locke) grabbed 12 boards.

Christine Sweitzer led the Jaguars with 17 points.
