Panthers Cruise to Win in Tarantelli Opener

Corning—The Tompkins Cortland Community College men's basketball team put on a dominating performance Saturday in the opening round of the Tarantelli Classic in Corning, beating Cumberland County College (N.J.) 104-58. Both teams are now 3-6 on the season. TC3 advances to Sunday's championship game against Corning Community College. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
 
TC3 led 58-30 at the half and continued to stretch the advantage in the second half. The Panthers received an incredible 57 points from the bench as 12 different players scored, including six in double figures.
 
Adam Malheur (Mount Vernon H.S./Mount Vernon) led the team with 17 points, followed by Bryce Elie (Queens H.S. of Teaching/Queens) and Devante Vanderpool (Corcoran H.S./Syracuse) with 14 each. Damani Ashton (Mount Vernon H.S./Mount Vernon) and De'Ondray Tape (Academy of Science/Syracuse) each had 11, while Jailaan Kinsey (Jamesville-Dewitt H.S./Dewitt) tallied 10 points and a team-best six assists.
