The Rotary Club of Ithaca has named Tompkins Cortland Community College staff member Carrie Whitmore as a winner of the 2017 Pride of Workmanship Award. The honor recognizes employees whose outstanding work performance in their organization is “above and beyond the call of duty” and is instrumental in the achievement of the organization’s performance goals. Whitmore is the administrative assistant for corporate and community partnerships, which includes Tompkins Cortland Community College Biz.

The annual Pride of Workmanship Award is selected by a panel of Ithaca Rotarians based on the nomination, the employee’s initiative and consistency, and how he or she embodies the spirit of the business or organization. Martha Hubbard, director of corporate and community partnerships, said Whitmore, who has been at the College since 2012, was a perfect choice, crediting her with streamlining and continuously improving procedures to more effectively meet area needs. “Her knowledge and ability to utilize technology have been key in these efforts,” said Hubbard. “She also takes great initiative, investigating potential new program areas and marketing techniques with me.“

The Corporate and Community Partnerships Office connects the College with area employers and key regional partners, serving as a liaison to the business community while strengthening critical external connections with customized training and noncredit open enrollment programs through Biz.

“Carrie plays a key role in our efforts,” said Hubbard. “She consistently demonstrates her belief in the College’s commitment to growing human capital for businesses and organizations in our region. She always goes the ‘extra mile’ when working with our clients.”
