Library Services for Faculty and Staff

Academic Integrity and Plagiarism

Librarians are available to give class presentations and consultations on plagiarism, intellectual property and other academic integrity issues. For help in this area see Academic Integrity and Plagiarism or contact Ann Sullivan at ext. 4395 to obtain a password for Turnitin, online plagiarism detection software. Turnitin provides Training Material for Students, Instructors & Administrators consisting of videos, user manuals and guides.

Archives

The TC3 Archives collects, identifies, describes and preserves materials that document the history and activities of the college and makes them available for use. The Archives is located in Room 252G on the southwest side of the library. For additional information contact Margaret Anderson at ext. 4356.

Book Acquisitions and Suggestions

The Library is very interested in receiving suggestions about books and feedback about our collection. If you would like to suggest a book or discuss book acquisitions contact Ann Sullivan at ext. 4395. A Library Materials Request Form is available on the Library web site.

Borrowing Materials

Full time faculty and staff can check out most items for the semester. Items may be recalled if requested by another borrower. For additional information see Borrowing Materials.

Course Reserves

The Course Reserves collection, located at the Service Desk, provides special access to books, articles and other materials professors set aside for their students. We require a 24 hour processing period for course reserve material. We can arrange also for materials you wish placed on our electronic reserve system. A printable form is available. Curriculum Resources and Course Proposal Review

A librarian signature is required on course proposals to ensure that teaching staff have the library materials and services they need before a course is underway. Contact Ann Sullivan at ext. 4395 to make an appointment to discuss a new proposal.

Equipment

Media Services provides equipment such as computers, projectors, document cameras and DVD/VCR combo units both off and on campus. Training in the use of smart classrooms and videotaping on campus and at the extension centers is available by appointment. Contact Brian Ackley at ext. 4408, Janice Lawrence at ext. 4353, or Gene Conrad at ext. 4359.

Interlibrary Loan

The Library can obtain books and articles that we do not own from other libraries. To make these requests you need to open an account with ILLIAD, our interlibrary loan system. When your book arrives, the Library will send you an email and your book will be available for you to pick up at the Service Desk. Once you article is received, it will be delivered electronically to your ILLIAD acoount. For assistance with ILL questions contact Lucy Yang at ext. 4361.

Instructional Classroom

The Library manages the use of an instructional classroom - located on the second floor of Baker Commons. It is a smart cklassroom with 24 student computers. For information contact Barbara Kobritz at ext. 4362.

Journals for Educators

This list of journals and magazines about higher education are part of TC3's electronic collection. You can keep up with interesting articles by having the Table of Contents for any of these publications delivered right to your e-mail every time there's a new issue, allowing you to pick the best of the best for your professional reading. Choose as many as you like. Delete and add selections whenever you like. Register for Email Alert Services to receive regular e-mail notification for newly published research, journal tables of content, and other types of information based on criteria you specify.

Media

The Media Services collection is searchable in the Library's online catalog. We also can borrow materials from other libraries for you. If you would like to suggest a DVD or another media acquisition or simply want more information about this collection, Contact Janice Lawrence at ext. 4353.

New Books and Media

Print Journals, Magazines and Newspapers

The Library has a collection of print newspapers, magazines journals. It is located across from the Library Service Desk. For questions or recommendations regarding magazines and journals contact Margaret Anderson at ext. 4356 or Ann Sullivan at ext. 4395.

Reference and Research Assistance

Librarians are eager to assist staff members with reference and research needs. Contact Ann Sullivan at ext. 4395 to make a reference consultation appointment or call the Library Reference Desk at ext. 4363.

Technical Assistance

For problems connecting to TC3 library databases from off campus contact Bill Drew at ext. 4406. Your TC3 Card ID number is needed to connect with databases from off campus. The number is printed on your TC3 ID card and is also available in your myInfo account.

Video and DVD Requests and Reservations

Video and DVD Requests and Reservations can be made through Media Services. Contact Janice Lawrence at ext. 4353 for assistance with DVD, video and software requests. Requests should be submitted 24 hours in advance of need.
