Evaluating Sources

"Is this article good for my paper?"

"How can I tell if this author is reliable?"

"Does this article support my ideas?"

With the goal of getting students to think critically about what they read, we will help students answer these and other similar questions.

Integrating Sources

After students have found and gathered their sources, they have to  fit the information into their papers. To make this step feel less like a puzzle, we will share ideas and techniques on how to integrate and synthesize research materials.

The Tutor Connection

Student Assistants/Tutors in English 099

Reaching out to students in English 099, we can provide your classroom with a tutor or student assistant to assist your students directly and aid you in moderating  peer-review sessions, small group discussions, or any similar activity. As much as possible, please contact us early in the semester to ensure the availability of tutors.

Grammar Matters

To reinforce the use of proper grammar, we can tailor a session that will deal with the issues your students face. Our goal is to help students recognize and fix their own grammatical mistakes.

We will discuss the conceptual and emotional effects of sentence patterns and rhetorical devices.

Revision

With their final drafts in hand, we will guide your students in how to revise effectively and substantially. We will focus on thesis development and organization.
