![]() How Do I Order an Interlibrary Loan?To order books or media from other libraries, also known as Interlibrary Loan (ILL), you must create an account in ILLiad, our Interlibrary Loan Service. You may search for the title in the SUNY Catalog. Also known as the SUNYConnect Union Catalog, this is the combined catalog of 62 SUNY libraries. Use the SUNY Catalog to request items not owned by the TC3 Library. When you have located the title you seek, click on the phrase "request item" in red on the upper right of the screen and fill in information as requested. WorldCat, a wordwide database of library books and materials, may also be used to search for and request library material. Articles not available at TC3, either in our journal databases or in our collection of print periodical titles, may be ordered directly from the database where they have been retrieved, by clicking on the green 360 icon (LINK to Full Text). While most interlibrary loans requests are generally filled within five working days, we do ask that you allow us at least two weeks. If you have problems or questions about your interlibrary loan please feel free to contact the library. PoliciesLoan Charges: Most requests are filled without a charge. If the lending library indicates that there will be a charge for the item you wish to borrow, the TC3 library will contact you regarding the amount and procedure for payment. You will have the opportunity to decide if you wish to proceed with the request. Limits: The TC3 Interlibrary Loan Librarian reserves the right to limit requests depending on the number of items requested, the time of year, and the extent of the library's own collection. Copyright rules prohibit the library requesting more than one article from the same issue of a periodical in a calendar year. Return of Materials & Late Charges: Borrowing through Interlibrary Loan is a privilege. Please return items on time. If an item is overdue, fines accrue at $.25 per day. Photocopied articles need not be returned to the library. Renewals: Renewal of borrowed materials is often possible, but requests for renewals must be made well before the due date. The lending library reserves the right to decline a renewal request. Dissertations: Dissertations are generally not available for Interlibrary Loan but may be purchased from ProQuest Digital Dissertations which provides free access to the most current two years of citations and abstracts or from Dissertation Express Copyright Law and WarningLaw: The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted materials. Conditions for Use: Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship or research." Fair Use: If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement. Restrictions: The TC3 Library reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order, if in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
