Instructions for Room 288C
PictureTel Videoconferencing System

Camera Set-up

Main CameraThis is located on the top of the monitor along the right side wall of the room. It is primarily for the instructor to view and to address the far site students without having to turn sharply away from the students in the room.
Auxiliary CameraThis is located on the top of the monitor at the front of the room to the right of the Teaching Station.
Document CameraSelect this to view what's on the Canon Visualizer AKA document camera or to display what's on the computer monitor.

Monitor Set-up

Front right of Teaching StationThis displays the far-end view and has a picture-in-picture (P-I-P) of the near-end view that's currently being sent (Note: the P-I-P can be turned off). This display is the primary means of visual contact between near-end and far-end students.
Front left of Teaching StationThis displays the "preview" shot of whatever camera view you select for preview on the controller. Use it to set-up shots before sending them or to display to the near-end students the same shot as seen by far-end students (such as the view from the document camera).
Monitor along right sidewallThis monitor gives the instructor a view of students at the far end and is aligned with the main camera, so to minimize shifting of the instructor's "gaze".

Document Camera

The Document Camera (Canon Video Visualizer) is located on the teaching station to the right front of the instructor. Use it to display previously prepared graphic material (either in opaque or transparency format) or use it in lieu of a blackboard for live presentation of information. Students in both the near and far end sites can clearly see on the monitor anything you display or write on the document camera's platform.

Computer Display

The display from your computer monitor can be presented to the entire class in both near and far ends by pressing the "input select" button on the document camera.
