Who participates in study abroad trips?TC3 students – matriculated, non-matriculated, full or part-time – are not the only people eligible to participate in our Global Studies study abroad trips. The over 100 sponsored programs offered through TC3 are available to most anyone in our community. What courses are included in the TC3 Global Studies program?Through TC3 Global, students have access to over 100 study abroad courses, ranging from three to 30 college credits. Trips can be as short as two weeks, and as long as one year. Contact our Study Abroad Coordinator for a full listing of study abroad course options. Will my financial aid cover the cost of participating in a study abroad course? While it is best to speak with your financial aid counselor about your individual situation, financial aid generally covers the tuition, books and fees for study abroad courses. Some of the extra expenses may also be covered. Some scholarships and loans are available to help students cover any expenses beyond what is paid for with financial aid. Must I know a foreign language in order to participate in a study abroad trip?Definitely not! Often learning the basics of a new language is one reason students site for going on a study abroad trip, but you are not required to have any knowledge of another language in order to travel. Is there a GPA requirement for participating in a study abroad?Any student who wishes to participate in a Global Studies study abroad trip must be in good academic standing (not on probation), but there is no GPA requirement. When do study abroad trips occur? While study abroad trips are scheduled at many different times, semester and year long trips usually occur in connection with the foreign country’s academic calendar (which may be quite different from ours!). Short-term trips are often run between the fall and spring semesters and in the summer, so that your regular course sequences are not interrupted. |
