Assessment/Basic Skills Guidelines

The following course placement standards have been revised to accommodate the inclusion of ENGL100 in all curricula. In addition to Accuplacer Reading and Math, students now take WritePlacer. Unlike Accuplacer, which is entirely multiple-choice, WritePlacer has the student write an essay, which is computer-scored. The combination of the Reading and WritePlacer score determines the English placement; in some cases students may also take the Accuplacer Sentence Skills test. In certain circumstances ASSET is also used, so information about the use of these scores for placement is also included.
