Program Teacher: Karen Murray

Description: Work study experiences provide an opportunity for a learning partnership between the school, local businesses, and Tompkins Cortland Community College. Students will apply theories learned in the classroom to an actual business experience while working with a local employer. Release time and schedule adjustments will be determined on an individual basis. Students will share work experiences, create portfolios, interact with Tech Prep students from other schools, as well as plan, organize, and run a full-day seminar for area Tech Prep students. In addition, you are eligible to take courses at TC3, tuition-free, if you qualify.

• Communication & Media Arts

Teacher: Jim Perkins

Description: Two half-year courses in Communication Systems and Audio-Video Production. The course in Communications Systems offers an introduction to popular forms of communication such as radio and television production (audio and video), screen printing, desktop publishing, and Computer-Aided Drawing. Students will enjoy the hands-on approach. Audio-Video Production provides an opportunity for students who enjoyed Communication Systems to pursue individual interests and greater depth of learning in the realm of A/V and communications. The second course also provides 1 college credit from TC3. In addition, you are eligible to take courses at TC3, tuition-free, if you qualify.

•Digital Electronics

Teacher: Jim Perkins

Description: An introduction to computer technology and engineering, Digital Electronics offers students theory, practice and career exploration. Successful students will receive 3 college credits and ½ unit of High School credit. In addition, you are eligible to take courses at TC3, tuition-free, if you qualify. The course of study includes a large amount of hands-on practice, lab work as well as traditional academic study. Start your future in Computer Technology here!
