Description: The Tech Prep and Computer Applications course integrates Microsoft Office to better prepare students for active participation and commitment in post-secondary studies and the educated work force. Individual modules, focusing on a variety of interests and needs, will be developed and applied to allow students the opportunity to cultivate new ideas, resources, and projects for future use. Through active student involvement, students will be exposed to real-life dilemmas where problem-solving processes will involve the use of new computer and office technology. Students who choose to participate in the course will become active users of: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Power Point, a digital camera, scanner, Internet explorations, as well as integrations and multimedia use of the programs listed. Through active participation, students will work to create a “Portfolio” of projects that will demonstrate creative writings, multimedia projects, and computer experiences. Volunteer and/or work experience is a required component of the course and students will support this component with a comprehensive career and college portfolio. TC3 offers Concurrent Enrollment in computer applications and college success skills for those that complete this course. In addition, students may take industry standard exams for MOUS certification. Students may also have the opportunity to take a college course at TC3 while in the Tech Prep program.
