2007 High School Graduates Earn Over 16,000 College Credits from TC3

June 26, 2007

DRYDEN, N.Y. —Over 1,900 high school graduates have a head start on college. Students from more than 30 central New York schools have earned over 16,000 college credits over their high school careers through TC3’s CollegeNow program – which includes In-School Dual Credit, Online Dual Credit, and Tech Prep tuition-free courses. The average senior earned eight college credits, with two exceptional seniors earning a total of 46 college credits each. Forty-four seniors earned 30 or more college credits, while 325 seniors earned at least 15 college credits.

Students have earned these credits for a number of reasons, including:

  • To prepare for college by starting the transition to college level work.
  • To strengthen their college applications.
  • To earn advanced standing when they enroll in college.
  • To shorten the time it would take to complete a college degree or to allow them to have a lighter load their first two semesters at college.

College credits were earned in a wide variety of classes from “Academic Writing” to “Principles of Accounting,” from “Precalculus Math” to “Architectural Drafting,” from “Introduction to Psychology” to “Web Page Design.”  These credits may be used at TC3 or transferred to other SUNY campuses, and they are also accepted at many other colleges throughout New York and the nation.

Congratulations to this year’s high school seniors!
