![]() Provides a Challenging CurriculumA Community of ScholarsThe TC3 Honors College provides a challenging curriculum for highly motivated students who have demonstrated their academic ability. Honors students work in a community of scholars, engaging in academic discussion and projects that require a high level of participation and independent investigation. Honors College CurriculumThe honors curriculum is available to students enrolled in a TC3 degree program. Honors students complete specific requirements in addition to their degree program requirements. To graduate in the honors college, students must maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.5 and receive a grade of B or better in required honors courses. Honors CoursesHonors students are required to take honors sections of English composition, literature, sociology, and psychology. In some cases, these courses are included in program degree requirements. In other cases, honors courses will be taken in addition to courses required for a degree. Typically, students enroll in two of the four required honors sections in their first semester and the other two in their second semester. Class sizes will be limited to 20 students. Interdisciplinary SeminarsHonors seminars, designed by faculty, feature small group discussions and provide an opportunity for in-depth dialogue. Honors seminars are taken in the third and fourth semesters. Students not enrolled in the honors college will be allowed to register for honors seminars with faculty permission. Seminars will be limited to 20 students. Independent StudyIndependent study projects allow academic pursuit of topics of interest. Students may take a nontraditional course in place of an independent study project. These courses are not always held in a classroom and usually involve an experiential learning component. Admission to the ProgramAll applicants to the honors college will be individually evaluated based on their academic achievement and potential for further achievement. Students may be admitted to the honors program when they are admitted to the College, or after their first semester at TC3. Students should take the following steps to be accepted into the honors program:

TC3’s Honors College Scholarship is a great way to reward exceptional students for their hard work and academic success in high school. Transfer OptionsEach year, about 150 TC3 graduates transfer to four-year colleges and universities. Our graduates have transferred to a variety of institutions, including Cornell University, Ithaca College, Rochester Institute of Technology, SUNY Cortland, and several campuses of the State University of New York. In addition, TC3 maintains transfer agreements with 35 colleges and universities. These agreements spell out specific requirements for transfer as a junior. TC3 graduates who transfer typically save thousands of dollars in tuition expenses by taking their first two years here. Many qualify for financial aid awards at transfer colleges as well.
