The trend today in our instantaneous satisfaction driven world is for busy people to demand simple answers to complex historical problems. In reaction to that, my goal is to expose students to multiple viewpoints, many of which challenge accepted myths about the past. The historian's role is to guide people through the difficult and often contentious decisions that have resulted in our shifting modern world.
I consistently offer courses in Western Civilization I to roughly 1648, as well as part II which runs until the modern era. In addition, World History Since 1500 is a new offering available each semester.
I enjoy spending time with my family, outdoor recreation and gardening, keeping the deer from devouring everything, and chasing my poodle!
