![]() NursingA.A.S. DegreeNurses play vital roles at all levels of the health care system. They are caregivers, counselors, educators, and advocates who work with clients of all ages. Care is given in a variety of inpatient and community settings, and involves clients with chronic and acute health care needs. Nursing is a continually growing field that offers diverse opportunities and challenges.
TC3's nursing degree program is a member of the National League for Nursing and is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc.: NLNAC TC3’s rigorous and highly-praised nursing program offers diverse clinical experiences in hospitals, long-term care facilities, and community settings. Courses in nursing and the liberal arts provide in-depth career preparation. Graduates have an excellent job placement record. Clinical ExperienceTo prepare nursing students for the many diverse roles available to them, clinical opportunities in a variety of health care settings are integrated as part of each semester. ExternshipsYou have the opportunity to participate in a nursing externship that is offered in the summer after the first year of the nursing program and winter break after the third semester. You will work directly under the supervision of a nurse preceptor for a total of 150 hours. You are also supported by a faculty mentor. The externship allows you to have hands-on experience within the limits of your current clinical knowledge. Settings for externships have included acute inpatient units, same day surgery, community agencies, midwife/MD offices, psychiatric clinics, and hospice organizations, among others. Career OpportunitiesAfter you pass the state board examinations and become a registered nurse, you are eligible for employment in hospitals, nursing homes, doctors’ offices, industry, schools, hospices, family planning agencies, and a variety of other community settings. Graduates have found employment in a variety of health care facilities throughout the country. You will be prepared to pursue further education for advanced nursing degrees and/or advanced practice roles. Transfer OptionsWe encourage our nursing graduates to continue their education.
