![]() New MediaA.S. DegreeThe new media program helps you develop knowledge and skills in the growing areas of animation and interactivity, which have become a greater part of our rapidly changing visual world. Course work in animation and interactive media authoring provide opportunities for formal invention and artistic expression in the new and emerging forms of digital media. The program emphasizes design principles and skills, the investigation of visual and participatory possibilities inherent in new media, and critical strategies for developing content in a constantly evolving field. The program complements and draws on the curricular strengths of our related associate degree programs in communication and media arts, graphic design, and photography. Program courses combine the creative and expressive elements of the fine arts with digital technologies. Visual thinking and developing the design skills necessary for authoring new media content for print and the Web, CD Rom and DVD are emphasized. Career OpportunitiesAs a graduate of our new media program, you will be qualified for entry-level positions in interactive media design, web design/computer graphics, interface design, instructional design, digital photography, and entry-level animation and game production. Transfer OptionsThe curriculum provides a framework for you to transfer to a four-year program in the arts or the new media field. You will be prepared to transfer with full junior status to a baccalaureate degree program in art with a concentration in fine art, new media and/or design. The college has transfer agreements in place with the new media design bachelor’s degree program at State University College at Cortland and the visual arts and new media bachelor’s program offered by State University College at Fredonia.
