Milagros Cartagena

The experience of a lifetime

In 2010, Milagros Cartagena, RN, MSN, and assistant professor of nursing at TC3, led a group of four TC3 nursing students to Colombia to provide clinical care to residents in impoverished areas. It was "the experience of a lifetime," for the students, who were able to assist residents who lived out of range of hospitals and clinics in Colombia.

This was the program's first trip to Colombia, but TC3 nursing students also have traveled to Nicaragua for more than 15 years to provide similar care for residents. The program provides invaluable experience to TC3's nursing students, and also invaluable care to residents who may not otherwise experience care.
