TC3 Commencement

Planning to graduate in May 2010? If you haven't filled out the application, please do so ASAP! You can apply online.

 

Date/Time/Place

Tompkins Cortland Community College’s 2010 commencement ceremony will take place on Thursday, May 20. The ceremony will be held in the athletic facility gymnasium and begin promptly at 6 p.m. Graduates should arrive by 5:15 p.m. and go directly to the BorgWarner Morse TEC Field House and check in at the academic records table.

Guest Seating with Ticket

The ceremony will be held in the athletic facility gymnasium. Guest seating area will open at 5 p.m.
This area is general admission seating. Tickets do not correspond to a particular seat, they are on a first-come basis.

Assembly and Lineup

Please be ready for assembly by 5:15 p.m. Ushers and signs will direct you to the robing area (BorgWarner Morse TEC Field House). You will be given further instructions there.

Parking

Ample parking is available. Closest public parking is in lot 6, additional parking is available in lots 1-4. Designated parking also is available for people with disabilities. There is a drop-off area in front of the building.

Photography

Island Photography, a company specializing in graduation photos, will take a photograph of you as you receive your diploma. They will mail a color, wallet-size proof to your myTC3/myINFO permanent address at no cost. The proof will also be e-mailed to your TC3 student account. For a fee, the company will print additional copies. You are under no obligation to purchase photos.

Diplomas

During the ceremony you will receive a blank scroll. The actual diplomas will be available in the academic records office in June 2010. Diplomas not picked up will be mailed to your permanent address. Students who still have outstanding financial obligations to the College will not be able to receive their diplomas.

Clothing

All graduates will wear the traditional cap and gown (available at the bookstore, see below). It is best to wear cool clothing underneath.

Personal Belongings

There is no designated place to leave personal belongings or valuables during the ceremony. All items should be carried with you or given to a friend or family member for safe keeping.

Phi Theta Kappa Members

As a member of Phi Theta Kappa, you may wear a PTK stole and other PTK regalia at your graduation ceremony. These items are available online at PTK.org.

Honors Graduates

Students graduating with honors will receive their gold tassels on graduation night during the assembly and lineup. To graduate with honors, students must have earned a minimum of 30 credits at TC3 and have a minimum GPA of 3.20.

Achievement Cords

These cords signify on-campus student leaders, including members of Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges, SUNY Chancellor’s award recipients, officers in student clubs, athletic team captains and exceptional graduates. These students are nominated or selected by their peers or by College staff as a result of their leadership.

Child Care

Child care is available during the graduation ceremony. Children must be at least two years of age. Pre-registration is required.

If you or your guest require any special accommodations (parking, sign language interpretation, seating), please contact the Office of External Relations at 607.844.8222, Ext. 4224, as soon as possible.

Caps and Gowns

Caps and gowns may be picked up from the TC3 Bookstore. Hours will posted closer to the Commencement date.

Tickets

Each graduating student will be able to receive a limited number of tickets for guests to attend the ceremony. More information about tickets will be available closer to commencement.
