TC3 and the TC3 Alumni Association wish to recognize each year those alums who have distinguished themselves in their careers and their service to their communities. The awards may be awards annually in each category.

2009 Award Recipients

Catherine Feuerherm

Catherine FeuerhermCathy was nominated by Priscilla Walter. Cathy graduated from TC3 in 1987 with an A.A.S. in Nursing, received her B.S. in nursing in 1995, and her master’s in nursing in 1999.  In 2009, Cathy was named public health director of the Cortland County Health Department. She works with the county’s board of health, the New York State Department of Health, the county administrator, and county legislators to run an effective public health program. She actively participates in the N.Y.S. Association of County Health Officials and serves on numerous boards in the county. Cathy is known for her remarkable ability to organize, to achieve quality outcomes in a fiscally responsible manner, and to always plan for the future of the programs she supervises.

Melissa Chiotti

Melissa ChiottiMelissa was nominated by her employer, Julia Reich. Melissa graduated from TC3 in 2002 with a degree in Graphic Design/Computer Graphics. Melissa has worked for the Julia Reich Design company for the past 19 months as a graphic designer. She is responsible for a variety of design projects, from creating printed materials such as brochures and invitations, to web sites, logos, and packaging design. Melissa always accepts challenges and is motivated to learn new skills. Melissa also is a single mother, fully committed to raising her child while she pursues her professional goals.

Kevin Harris

Kevin HarrisKevin was nominated by Alan Pedersen from Cayuga Medical Center at Ithaca. Kevin graduated with an A.A.S. in Nursing in 2007.  After graduation Kevin took a full-time position in the Cayuga Medical Intensive Critical Care Unit, where he continued to grow and was promoted to the position of Clinical Leader. In 2009, he was again promoted to the position of house supervisor. The promotion to this position is very unique for a nurse with only three years of clinical experience. He has also gained the confidence and support of other directors, staff and senior leadership members. In his free time, Kevin teaches Women’s Safety & Self-Defense classes. He also volunteers with the Food Bank of Southern Tier, the Red Cross Disaster Services, and the Ithaca Free Clinic.

Joyce Stanton

Joyce StantonJoyce was nominated by her husband, Roger, her friend Bethany Miller, and Walter and Esther Hopkins. Joyce has two degrees from TC3. She graduated in 2000 with an A.S in Liberal Arts – Social Science and again in 2008, an A.S. in Liberal Arts and Sciences – Women's Studies. Joyce works as a youth care worker for the Homer Youth Center. She also created and is president of the Women at the Well – a women’s group that helps and supports those in need. Joyce is recognized for her ability to provide service in an energetic and willing manner, and for being very efficient and accurate in everything she does, and always easygoing and cheerful. Professor Ted Szymanski described her as being an extrovert who relates easily to peers and superiors, and also as someone who is patient and possesses the ability to communicate effectively in a naturally cheerful manner.
