Athlete of the Week

Each week during the sports seasons, TC3 recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of a student athlete.

 

Jennifer Iler, Women's Basketball

November 17

Athlete of the Week Jennifer IlerJennifer (Owego Free Academy/Apalachin) helped the Panthers to a pair of wins this week, and, in the process, put her name in the TC3 record book. After combining for 17 points in the first two games, Iler exploded for 20 points in the win over Division II Niagara County. In that game, she moved into first place on TC3's all-time list for three-pointers made. She now has 65 for her career, three more than the old record set by Laura Thomas from 2001-03.

Chris Cartwright, Men's Basketball

November 10

Athlete of the Week Chris CartwrightChris (Binghamton HS/Binghamton) led the Panthers in scoring, assists, and steals in Wednesday's game at Mohawk Valley. His 16-point, 7-assist, and 5-steal effort gave him a season average of 17.3 ppg, 7 apg, and 3.7 spg - all team bests. He also leads the team in three-point shooting with 11 (or 3.7 per game).

Mackenzie Stilwell, Women's Basketball

November 3

Athlete of the Week Mackenzie StilwellMackenzie (Charles O. Dickerson HS/Trumansburg) made an impressive collegiate debut for the Panthers. Playing at the SUNY Delhi Bronco Invitational, she earned tournament MVP honors while leading TC3 to the title. For the two games, she totaled 28 points, 18 rebounds, four steals, and two assists.

Danielle Hiza, Women's Soccer

October 20

Athlete of the Week Danielle HizaDanielle (Johnson City HS/Johnson City) helped the Panthers to a pair of wins last week. In the regular season finale against Herkimer on Tuesday, she scored two goals as the Panthers won 4-3. The win helped TC3 earn a home playoff game on Saturday agaisnt Erie. In that game, Hizza provided the lone goal in the 1-0 win.

Lindsey McCutcheon, Volleyball

October 13

Athlete of the Week Lindsey McCutcheonLindsey (Dryden HS/Dryden) put her name at the top of the TC3 record book this week, moving into first all-time for kills in a career. After pounding out 203 as a freshman last year, she has collected 127 already this year. Her current total of 330 makes her the most prolific hitter in TC3 volleyball history.

James Holman, Men's Soccer

October 6

Athlete of the Week James HolmanJames (Dryden HS/Dryden) had a huge week for the surging Panthers. He entered the scoring column during Tuesday's game at Broome, registering an assist in the 3-0 win. At Cayuga on Thursday, he recorded his first collegiate hat-trick as the team powered to a 5-0 win. He ended the week with one of the team's best efforts in a tough match against Genesee.

Liz Bazzano, Women's Soccer

September 29

Athlete of the Week Liz BazzanoLiz (Peru HS/Peru) played a major role in a big week for the Panthers. She started the week with the game's first goal in TC3's game against Hudson Valley, setting the tone for a 5-1 win. The weekend saw her come up huge in the win at Jamestown. The Panthers won by a score of 3-0, with Liz playing a role in each score with a goal and two assists. She finished the week with two goals and two assists, giving her 13 points on the season.

Fernando Casanova, Men's Soccer

September 22

Athlete of the Week Fernando CasanovaFernando (Santo Domingo, D.R.) helped the Panthers snap out of a season-long scoring slump. Playing Saturday against Clinton, Casanova tallied a goal and an assist as part of TC3's eight-goal outburst. A team co-captain. he leads the team in scoring this season.

Brianne Butters, Volleyball

September 15

Athlete of the Week Brianne ButtersBrianne (Elmira Free Academy/Elmira) put her name in the record books this week. While playing at the Jefferson Invitational, Butters dished out 39 assists. She now has 578 assists for her career, the most ever by a TC3 Panther.

Kim Natoli, Women's Soccer

September 8

Athlete of the Week Kim NatoliKim (Cortland HS/Cortland) had a solid week, providing a strong presence all over the field. In TC3's game against Division I Bryant & Stratton College, Natoli's goal in the first half gave the Panthers a 2-1 lead. It was her second goal of the seaon and tied her for the team lead with five points.
